To date, my Department has received 32 applications under the Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement. The final date for the receipt of applications under the scheme is 1 September 2009. Some 43 applications were received under the Special Incentive Career Break Scheme by the closing date of 1 July 2009. Two Civilian Drivers were made redundant following the reduction in the numbers of Ministers of State, which was announced by the Taoiseach in April of this year. Information on the number of applications received by the local authorities under both schemes is not yet available in my Department. The final dates for receipt of applications by the local authorities for the Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement and Career Break Schemes are 1 September 2009 and 31 July 2009 respectively. My Department does not compile data for the number of staff made redundant by each local authority. A total of three applications have been received under the Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement and seven under the career break schemes for bodies under the aegis of my Department to date. Six staff were made redundant by the National Building Agency in the last 12 months.
