Question 371: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the number of people currently employed in social welfare offices throughout County Waterford; the breakdown of these numbers by office; the number employed per year over the past five years; and if there are plans to increase the number of staff employed in Waterford. There are currently 93 people employed on a permanent basis in Social Welfare Offices in County Waterford. As a number of these avail of family-friendly work arrangements and are consequently employed on a less than full-time basis, the total employment in these offices equates to some 85 full time equivalent posts.

In addition, there are currently 4 Temporary Clerical Officers employed in the Social Welfare Local Office in Waterford City, pending the assignment of permanent staff. 9 extra staff members have been assigned to Waterford Local Office since June 2008 to deal with the significant increase in the Live Register.
