Question 500: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will clarify the position in relation to funding recently announced in respect of 2009 housing grant allocations to local authorities; and if this funding has been awarded to the local authorities as the relevant local authority is stating in its correspondence that it has not been advised of the 2009 housing grant allocations to date (details supplied). Allocations totalling €79.562 million for 2009 were notified to local authorities under the Housing Adaptation Grant for Older People and People with a Disability, the Mobility Aids Grant Scheme and the old Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grant Schemes on 7 May 2009. In the case of Cork County Council, the 2009 allocation amounts to €6,285,000 compared to an initial allocation of €5,516,160 in 2008, an increase of almost 14%.
