Question 309: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that, in the aftermath of the publication of the Ryan report, there has been an increase in the number people contacting advocacy groups for abuse survivors; if she will increase funding for those groups; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Government has accepted all of the recommendations of the Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse and is committed to their full implementation. Included in the recommendations is the need for continued provision of counselling, educational and family tracing services. As Minister of State with responsibility for Children and Youth Affairs, I have been tasked with developing a plan for the implementation of the recommendations. In developing this plan I will consider the various issues which need to be addressed and what actions are necessary, feasible and effective. This implementation plan will be brought to Government for its approval by the end of July.
