Question 108: To ask the Minister for Health and Children when the Health Service Executive Strategic Review of Neurology and Neurophysiology Services will be published; the reason for the delay in the publication of this review following its completion in December 2007 and subsequent submission to the National Hospitals Office for review; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive (HSE) undertook a national review of Neurology Services to improve integration of services and optimise patient outcomes. Following consideration of the Review report, the HSE decided to seek an external expert opinion on the model of care proposed to ensure that the recommendations were properly aligned with the HSE Transformation Programme. The findings of the external experts are currently being considered by the HSE.

The issue of publication of the review is a matter for the Executive and accordingly my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy in this regard.
