Question 425: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the continuing delay in permitting a school (details supplied) in Dublin 16 to apply for planning permission and for his continuing failure to sanction the construction of the new school; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that substantial moneys have been spent on the design of the new school; and if he has abandoned the commitment given to the Knocklyon community prior to the 2007 general election that the construction of the school would be sanctioned without delay. The building project for the school to which the Deputy refers is currently at an early stage of architectural planning.
The progression of all large scale building projects, including this project, from initial design stage through to construction phase will be considered in the context of my Department's multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme.
However, in light of current competing demands on the Department's capital budget, it is not possible to give an indicative timeframe for the further progression of the project at this time.
