Question 300: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if the Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly ferries will be in operation in 2009; if he will make an announcement that will bring some closure to this issue in view of the fact that tourism purveyors in the north west are currently unable to plan for the summer; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no Ministerial responsibility in relation to the matter raised by the Deputy.

Enquiries by my Department indicate that the issue is one for Donegal County Council, in conjunction with Limavady District Council in Northern Ireland, and I understand that Donegal County Council will be in contact with the Deputy to explain the background and current state of play in relation to this issue.
