Question 228: To ask the Minister for Transport further to his confirmation by way of reply to Parliamentary Question No. 294 of 6 May 2009 that the two dimensional red safety areas formerly established in 1997 by the Irish Aviation Authority at ground level at the State airports no longer apply, if the IAA has informed each of the many landowners so affected by such earlier 1997 decision of the volte face in question; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I set out in reply to Dáil Question 294 of 6 May, the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has advised me that they will object to proposed developments anywhere in the State, which may affect the safe navigation of aircraft.

The issue referred to by the Deputy is an operational matter for the IAA and one in which I have no function.
