Question 110: To ask the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Carlow can expect to have surgery to ensure the best outcome for them; the reason this surgery cannot be carried out at a hospital or under the National Treatment Purchase Fund in view of the length of time they have been on the waiting list; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I understand that the HSE and the authorities at Crumlin are seeking to agree arrangements with the National Treatment Purchase Fund for a number of patients who are suffering with this condition to be treated as soon as possible. I would hope that early progress can be made in this regard.

In addition to this the HSE and the three Dublin paediatric hospitals are also having discussions with a view to establishing the potential to improve the existing arrangements for the provision of paediatric orthopaedic services generally.

My Department has asked the Executive to respond directly to the Deputy on the specific case raised.
