Question 244: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide assurances that the number of post-leaving certificate places in County Kerry will be increased to ensure that there is adequate capacity to cope for some of the many newly unemployed people in the county who wish to avail of the opportunity to engage in further education and retraining. From September 2009, an additional 1,500 Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) places will be made available nationwide. This will bring the total number of approved PLC places to 31,688. No decision has been made yet with regard to the allocation of these additional 1,500 places.
