Question 259: To ask the Minister for Transport his views on the fact that people are experiencing difficulties in getting through to the national car test centre in order to book an appointment; his further views on a case in which a NCT certificate is due to run out on 1 June 2009 but has had difficulty in getting through to the test centre to book an appointment, either by phone or through the website; the number of staff in the NCT centres; the waiting time for appointments; the reason for the difficulties in arranging appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006 (Conferral of Functions) Order 2006 (S.I. No. 477 of 2006) the Road Safety Authority has responsibility for matters relating to vehicle testing, including the National Car Testing service.
