Question 422: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure that a school (details supplied) in County Limerick which previously had a construction budget allocated but was delayed in the planning process, will be at the front of the queue in the next round of funding for the schools construction programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The project at the school to which the Deputy refers is at an advanced stage of architectural planning. As a project progresses through the pre-tender stages of architectural planning, cost estimates for the project are provided by the design team as part of each stage submission. However, until a tender has been accepted on a project, no contractual commitment arises in respect of my Department's budget allocation.

The progression of all large scale building projects, including this project, to tender and construction will be considered in the context of my Department's multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme. However, in light of current competing demands on the capital budget of the Department, it is not possible to give an indicative timeframe for the progression of the project at this time.
