Question 317: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the annual amount paid out by her Department in social welfare payments to people who are not citizens of the European Union for the years 2006, 2007, 2008 and to date in 2009 with a breakdown of these figures relative to the type of social welfare payment made. The Department does not record the value of payments by reference to the citizenship of the recipient of social welfare schemes. I would however refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question 16128/09 answered on Tuesday 28 April 2009 which referenced statistical data on nationality of those on the Live Register which is compiled and published by the Central Statistics Office.
