Question 204: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the meetings he has had with developers in respect of 14 Moore Street, Dublin 1 which is an historic site associated with the 1916 Rising; his views on the proposal that this site be protected and preserved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have not met with any developers in relation to this site. In January 2007, my predecessor, as Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, placed a Preservation Order under the National Monuments Act, 1930 (as amended) on Nos. 14 to 17 Moore Street. As a consequence, any works affecting these properties, including any excavation or ground disturbance within, around or in proximity to them, require the prior written consent of the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, and the Minister is statutorily obliged to consult with the Director of the National Museum in this regard. Any proposed works affecting No. 16 will be subject to this procedure.
