Question 180: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number of applications for funding under the various schemes operated by his Department which were deemed unsuccessful for whatever reason in 2008; if such groups are expected to receive more favourable consideration in 2009; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will appreciate, my Department receives a large number of applications annually under the range of schemes operated by it, details of which are available on my Department's website at www.pobail.ie. Such applications may be from national or regional organisations, local community or voluntary groups, or, in many cases, from large numbers of individuals or families.

I can assure the Deputy that all applications for funding received by my Department are examined in line with the eligibility criteria of the relevant schemes. However, collating the detailed information sought in the Question would require a considerable amount of research, which I do not consider justified in the circumstances. If the Deputy has any particular cases in mind, I would be glad to have such cases looked at if he wishes to provide the necessary details.
