I propose to take Questions Nos. 318 and 319 together.
As the Deputy will be aware, the allocation of the proceeds of the National Lottery is a matter for the Minister for Finance. The elements of my Department's Vote which are part-funded by proceeds of the National Lottery are as follows: Subhead C.1 – Grants for sporting bodies and for the provision of sports and recreational facilities under the Sports Capital Programme; Subhead C.3 – Grant-in-Aid provided to the Irish Sports Council in respect of general assistance to sports organisations and expenditure in relation to sports activities; and Subhead D.7 – Grant-in-Aid allocation provided to the Arts Council. Details of expenditure part-funded by proceeds of the National Lottery under these subheads in the last two years, together with the Revised Estimates allocations for 2009, are outlined in the table below.
Sports Capital Programme | Irish Sports Council | Arts Council | Totals | |
2007 | €63,724,000 | €54,025,000 | €83,000,000 | €200,749,000 |
2008 | €60,137,000 | €57,182,000 | €81,620,000 | €198,939,000 |
2009 | €56,000,000 | €51,689,000 | €73,350,000 | €181,039,000 |
It can be seen, therefore, that there has been no change in the number or scope of subheads within my Department that are part-funded by the proceeds of the National Lottery.
