Question 285: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his proposals to amend the local government superannuation legislation in order that persons who have completed 40 years pensionable service are not required to continue paying a superannuation payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Members of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme are required, under sections 23, 42, 80 and 102 of the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998 to make contributions in respect of all pensionable service. I have no plans to amend this requirement.
