Question 438: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the reason there has been a delay in issuing the details of the higher education grant scheme by his Department; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that local councils tend to break for the summer and that if the details are not issued soon, the grants may be not be properly administered by autumn 2009; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The process of reviewing the criteria for the 2009 maintenance grant schemes is a priority for my Department at present. Decisions on the 2009 schemes will be announced as soon as the process is completed.
