Question 129: To ask the Minister for Finance the outcome of an aerial survey of an area (details supplied) in County Mayo; and the position in relation to the solution being sought for the flooding problem in this area. [8777/09]

The aerial survey has provided additional topographical information of the Neale area to assist engineering staff of the Office of Public Works who are endeavouring to identify a feasible and cost effective solution to the flooding problem there. However, no such solution has been identified so far.

Mayo County Council are awaiting a report from a hydrogeologist, which may also provide valuable data.

Question 130: To ask the Minister for Finance the works which have been carried out to date in respect of an area (details supplied) in County Mayo as previously referred to in a reply to a parliamentary question; the works that remain to be carried out; the timeframe within which they will be undertaken; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The National Parks and Wildlife Service has raised certain concerns regarding the potential environmental impact of the works proposed by the Office of Public Works to alleviate flooding at Hollymount. The OPW, together with Mayo County Council, are in discussions with the National Parks and Wildlife Service to try to address these concerns. It is not possible to indicate a timescale for the proposed works pending the outcome of these discussions.
