Question 163: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on the case of a person (details supplied) relating to the person's unlawful detention as an Irish citizen; his further views on the error which took place; if his attention has been drawn to the fact an Irish citizen who wishes to make a complaint should not be directed to the Garda National Immigration Bureau; the reason for this direction; his views on whether he was mistaken in this direction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the circumstances which the Deputy is referring to in his Question and I dealt with them in my reply to a Question tabled by the Deputy on the 2nd December 2008 (No. 301). As I indicated in that reply, a response to the letter referred to by the Deputy would be issued and this has been done.
