Question 367: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the position regarding the legislation that he promised would be introduced that will allow Cork City Council to sell apartments and flats to their tenants many of whom have been waiting over 20 years to purchase and who should be paying off a mortgage instead of paying rent. Work is continuing to address the outstanding issues relating to the tenant purchase of local authority apartments. I hope legislative proposals for a viable apartment sales scheme can be finalised in time for consideration during the Committee Stage debate on the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008.
