Question 57: To ask the Minister for Finance if he will appoint a High Court inspector, or other qualified high-level authority, to investigate affairs at Anglo Irish Bank, particularly in the year leading up to the nationalisation of the bank; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy is aware both the Financial Regulator and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement are investigating matters in Anglo Irish Bank. These bodies have extensive powers to investigate and take the matters further as considered appropriate.
