Question 229: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the ongoing education and training programmes in place for the county council staff and management to educate them in the complex area of congenital disabilities such as spina bifida and hydrocephalus; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001, each County and City Manager is responsible for staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authorities for which he or she is responsible. Funding has been provided under the National Disability Strategy for disability awareness training in all local authorities.
