Question 245: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the cost, in tabular format, including salary and pension payments, of each of the programme managers, special advisers, assistants or other staff appointed by him in 2007 post-election and 2008; the names, titles and duties of each of the staff appointed during these periods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. *Mr. Geoghegan's salary is paid from my Department's vote but he is based in the Department of the Taoiseach.

As outlined in their contracts the above staff had the option of joining the Non-contributory Pension Scheme for Non-established State Employees or having their membership of an approved private pension fund paid for by the Department subject to certain conditions. Five are members of the Non-contributory Scheme and two have private pensions. The cost of contributions to the above scheme is 11⁄2% of net pay. The salary scales for all administrative grades are available on the Department of Finance website (www.finance.gov.ie).
