Question 1632: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if an application for a new school (details supplied) in County Donegal has been received in his Department; the date on which the application was received; if he will give details of the accommodation in the said new school; when it is expected that the project will be allowed to proceed to tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application was received in my Department in 2000 for works at the school to which the Deputy refers. The brief for the project allows for the provision of a new school of 3452m2.

The project to which the Deputy refers is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning. The progression of all large scale building projects, including this project, from initial design stage through to construction will be considered on an on-going basis in the context of my Department's multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme.

However, in light of current competing demands on the capital budget of the Department, it is not possible to give an indicative timeframe for the progression of the project at this time.
