Question 1185: To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if his attention has been drawn to the delays in the completion of foreshore licences, which is contributed to by delays in the Valuation Office in completing valuations on foreshore lease and licence applications; if he will confirm that independent valuers can be engaged to provide same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following confirmation by the Valuation Office that it would not be in a position to supply a valuation service in respect of activities on State foreshore, my Department sought approval from the Department of Finance for the use of valuers from the private sector. A number of applications for foreshore consents currently on hand cannot be progressed without valuation. The urgency of the matter has been brought to the attention of the Department of Finance which has indicated that the necessary approval is imminent.
