Question 273: To ask the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the future of Rathcoffey Castle, County Kildare arising from a submission put forward at his meeting with a group (details supplied); if progress will be made in the next three to six months; his plans to prioritise same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As indicated at that meeting, the Office of Public Works has no function to determine or enforce a public right of way over these lands. The guardianship deed that confers on the Commissioners the responsibility for the maintenance of the gatehouse structure only, did not include a provision for public access. We will again examine concerns raised on the stability of the gatehouse and carry out those works deemed necessary.
