Question 211: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the number of submissions received on the draft proposals for phasing out energy inefficient light bulbs; the next steps to be taken on foot of the draft proposals and any submissions; when it is intended to notify draft regulations to the European Commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Over 200 submissions have been received in response to the public consultation document on the proposed energy efficiency and performance standard for light bulbs. A summary of these responses will be published on my Department's website in due course. Arrangements are underway to secure the necessary EU clearance to the introduction of the proposed standard in Ireland. These arrangements involve detailed and formal notification procedures which have been initiated, and are being followed by Ireland and the European Commission. A decision on the notification is awaited.
