Question 197: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the position regarding all contracts for the years 2007 and 2008 with consultants in relation to the preparation of reports of any kind; the name of the consultants; the cost for each report; and if she will provide this information in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Department has engaged consultancy expertise in 2007 and 2008 to support it in undertaking strategic reviews (e.g. review of the Social Insurance Fund and the equality review of the Social Welfare Code) and to provide specialist technical expertise in the application of information technology.

Details of the consultants engaged to undertake strategic reviews and reports in each of these years along with the amount of money paid in the particular year are set out in the Appendix. The 2008 table covers the period 01/01/2008 to 31/10/2008 inclusive and includes consultancies ongoing at 31/10/2008 where reports have not yet been finalised.
