Question 136: To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will reverse the decision to cut €10 million from the early retirement scheme and installation aid scheme which have been shut down to new applicants leading to hardship for many farming families; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have made provision of €56.7 million in 2009 to meet current commitments under the Early Retirement Scheme from Farming and the Young Farmers' Installation Scheme. I have no plans at present to reopen these schemes to new applications. The limiting of the suspension of these schemes will be considered at the earliest opportunity having regard to the general budgetary situation.
