Question 495: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding a school (details supplied); his views on whether this is the proper structure with leaking roofs, no hot water and inadequate sewerage systems in which to educate the children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application for an extension has been received from the school referred to by the Deputy and an assessment of the long term needs of the school has been concluded.

The commencement and progression of all large scale building projects from initial design stage through to construction phase, including this project, will be considered in the context of my Department's Multi-Annual School Building and Modernisation Programme. However, in light of current competing demands on the capital budget of the Department, it is not possible to give an indicative timeframe for the progression of the project at this time.
