Nursing Home Subventions

Question 84: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the number of applications in respect of enhanced nursing home subvention payments that are awaiting a decision from the Health Service Executive or her Department for funding in the Kildare-west Wicklow areas of the HSE; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Operational responsibility for the management and delivery of health and personal social services was assigned to the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Therefore, the Executive is the appropriate body to consider the particular matter raised by the Deputy. The Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have the matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.

Question 85: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the mechanism available to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare to obtain the additional payments needed to allow the person seek long-term care in a nursing home in view of the fact that enhanced subvention payments are not available and there are no facilities in the public wards of the appropriate hospitals within their health board area to facilitate this person; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
