Question 102: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the position of the decentralisation programme for his Department; the cost to date; the cost of the temporary accommodation for officials and storage; the cost of travel due to officials having to travel to Dublin for Departmental business; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, my Department's headquarters will be decentralising to Charlestown, Co Mayo. To date, 100 staff have moved to temporary accommodation in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo. My Department has incurred expenditure of €1,224,023 in this regard, of which €300,332 was in respect of travel and subsistence.
The decentralisation of 10 staff to Na Forbacha, Co Galway, is now complete and the process has not resulted in any material additional costs to my Department.
I should point out that this reply relates only to matters that are the direct responsibility of my Department and does not cover matters in relation to the payment of rents, as this is an issue for the Office of Public Works.
