The Young Farmers' Installation Scheme was introduced in June 2007 under the aegis of the 2007-2013 Rural Development Programme. It replaced the Installation Aid Scheme, which was established under the aegis of the National Development Plan 2000-2006 and was introduced in February 2001. Under the Installation Aid Scheme, 5,377 applications have been received and 4,147 payments made totalling €38.5m. 941 applications were received by my Department prior to the suspension of the Young Farmers' Installation Scheme for new applications on 14 October 2008. Of these 311 have been paid totalling €4.7m.
