Question 410: To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if the research and development functions performed by the Central Fisheries Board in the area of sea angling will continue to be funded under the new National Inland Fisheries Authority; if the sea angling duties of the South Western Regional Fisheries Board will also continue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is intended that the new national inland fisheries body will take on all of the functions of the existing Central and regional fisheries boards, including those functions relating to sea angling. Amending primary legislation will be required to give effect to the new body, which I would hope will be published early in 2009.
