Question 40: To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the position regarding the appointment of a complaints officer to deal with fishermen's complaints by the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority; when this person will be appointed; the terms of their appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This is a matter for the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA), an independent authority, which was established under the Sea Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 on January 1st 2007. The Act clearly provides that the appointment of a complaints officer is solely a matter for the Authority. I understand that a person has been appointed to this role and I have asked the SFPA to revert directly to the deputy with details of the appointment.
