Question 234: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the anxieties felt by a group (details supplied) in County Galway regarding the effect that some of the budget 2009 cutbacks will have on the provision of speech and language therapists, the insufficient respite care services and other such matters; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In Budget 2009, an additional €10m was allocated to the HSE. This funding will provide for 125 additional therapy posts in the disability and mental health services, targeted at children of school going age. 90 of these additional 125 posts will be provided in the disability service area. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
