Question 358: To ask the Minister for Education and Science his views on using a school (details supplied) in County Laois as a pilot for extending the generic school building plan, by putting a permanent structure in place rather than having to add four prefabs to a new school when all services are in place and planning permission has been granted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Question 359: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if consent has been given to provide four prefabs to a new school (details supplied) in County Laois; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the delay in granting same is delaying the opening of the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 358 and 359 together.
My Department has funded the construction of a new 16 classroom school for the school referred to by the Deputy. It has been acknowledged that the school will now require some additional classroom accommodation and while the long term accommodation needs are being finalised temporary accommodation will be provided in the interim.
