In May 2008 I published details of my intention to revise the boundaries of three Special Protection Areas in Dublin Bay. This was done through radio and newspaper advertisements as well as direct notification to affected landowners and interested parties. A small number of parties have made submissions on my proposals. Once these have been duly considered, I intend formally to designate these areas by way of statutory instrument. Pending statutory designation, the proposed areas enjoy the same legal protection under the European Communities (Habitats) Regulations, 1997, as they would if they had already been designated.
