Question 110: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if the Health Service Executive will introduce a programme to recover unused medicines, appliances and so on from people where these have been supplied either by prescription or otherwise and are not used and ultimately go to waste; if the HSE has an estimate of the cost of medicines that are ultimately used by patients; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Health Service Executive to consider the information requested by the Deputy and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy on the matter.
