Question 103: To ask the Minister for Health and Children when a cervical vaccine will be introduced; the funds that have been set aside to introduce it; the vaccine or vaccines that have been chosen; the cost per patient and in total; the number of vaccines expected to be administered and to which age groups; if appropriate arrangements have been made with the medical professions to roll out the vaccine nationwide; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In August 2008, the Health Service Executive was requested by my Department to examine operational and procurement issues relating to the introduction of a HPV vaccination programme for 12 year old girls on a basis that would achieve maximum cost effectiveness and appropriate national uptake rates. A response has recently been received from the HSE and it is being examined by my Department.
