Question 216: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will make a financial commitment to Ireland's hosting of the World Equestrian Games in 2014 in the event that the Irish bid is successful. [33149/08]

Question 221: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will look favourably on the bid to host the World Equestrian Games here in 2014 in view of the fact that the hosting of these Games would be of benefit to the tourism industry and the equine industry which have suffered through lack of investment in recent years. I propose to take Questions Nos. 216 and 221 together.
I understand that Horse Sport Ireland have established an advisory group to examine the feasibility of hosting the World Equestrian Games in Ireland in 2014. I await the report from Horse Sport Ireland on the matter.
