Question 62: To ask the Minister for Transport if he will examine the liquid transport fuels market in conjunction with the Departments of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the National Consumer Agency and the Competition Authority in view of the ongoing allegations of uncompetitive behaviour in the liquid fuels sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As indicated in my reply to Dail question no. 687 answered on Wednesday 24 September, I have no direct function in regard to this matter. Allegations of uncompetitive behaviour among hauliers are a matter for the Competition Authority. I am not aware of any complaints to my Department of any uncompetitive behaviour in the liquid transport market. In the normal course, complaints would be referred to the Competition Authority.
