Question 167: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if it is intended to proceed with the planned decentralisation of the National Consumer Agency to Cork; if her attention has been drawn to the concerns expressed by the agency that it may lose up to 90% of its staff if the move goes ahead; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the Government announced in July last that no further expenditure on the acquisition of accommodation for decentralisation should be sanctioned pending detailed consideration by the Government of reports from the Decentralisation Implementation Group and the Implementation Group of Secretaries General.
Without prejudice to the above announcement, my Department is currently in discussions with the Agency in relation to a staff transitional plan to ensure a gradual, phased and managed transition of staff. This plan will ensure the Agency's activities will not be unduly disrupted.
