Question 1383: To ask the Minister for Defence the bonuses, merit awards and other payments above the basic salary they have approved for the heads of State agencies, boards and other quangos for 2005, 2006, 2007 and to date in 2008; the basis on which they made the decision to approve such awards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In response to the Deputy's question I wish to state that the Director General of the Civil Defence Board is in receipt of pay under the Civil Service Principal Officer Pay Scale and no bonuses, merit awards or other payments above the basic salary are or were attached to this position in 2005, 2006, 2007 and to date in 2008.
