Question 1335: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved and granted jobseeker's allowance. [30715/08]

The person concerned applied for a jobseeker's allowance payment on 16 June 2008. Her claim is currently with a Social Welfare Inspector for assessment of her means. Despite requests, she has not yet provided to the Inspector, full details of her parental income in respect of her fathers holding of land or her mothers insurable employment. She was invited to attend the Inspector's office on 12 September to discuss her claim, but she failed to attend. When enquiries are completed the claim will be forwarded to the Social Welfare Local Office for decision and she will be notified of the outcome.

Under Social Welfare legislation decisions in relation to claims must be made by Deciding Officers and Appeals Officers. These officers are statutorily appointed and I have no role in regard to making such decisions.
