Question 292: To ask the Minister for Transport if he is confident that all agencies and bodies under his Department's responsibility comply fully with the Department of Finance procurement guidelines for goods and services; if he has sought assurances from the agencies and bodies that this is the case since 2000 to date in 2008; if he has expressed concern to an agency or body that it might be acting inappropriately since 2000 to date in 2008; if so, the agency or body; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The procurement activities of the bodies and agencies operating under the aegis of my Department are a day-to-day operational matter for those bodies/agencies. Each body/agency submits an Annual Report in compliance with the Code of Practice for the Corporate Governance of State Bodies of which compliance with procurement requirements is an integral component. All of the bodies/agencies operating under the aegis of my Department are kept fully up to date with the Department of Finance guidelines and their obligations in this regard.

Since my appointment as Minister for Transport on 15 June 2007, nothing has been brought to my attention which indicated any body or agency was acting inappropriately.
