Question 299: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the progress made in relation to the Programme for Government commitment to carry out and publish a comprehensive review of anit-smoking programmes targeted at young people by all Departments and agencies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Tobacco Control is to carry out and publish a comprehensive review of anti-smoking programmes targeted at young people by all Departments and Agencies. The Department is currently in consultation with this Office with regard to the detail of moving this forward.

My Department has facilitated consultations on this issue between ICTU and a number of bodies concerned with the health effects of smoking e.g., ASH, the Irish Cancer Society and the Irish Heart Foundation. At a meeting on 20 June last, the parties agreed to work together to examine the matter further.
