Question 129: To ask the Minister for Transport his views on recent proposals from the Dublin Transport Office to remove all road signalling and signage from roads in Dublin City centre; if he has examined similar schemes in operation in other EU states such as The Netherlands; his views on changes to existing traffic signage guidelines; if he plans to include similar proposals in his forthcoming sustainable transport strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Road Traffic Acts it is a matter for a road authority to decide on whether or not to provide or, to remove, a traffic sign at any location. Traffic signs include traffic signals and on-road markings.
