Question 429: To ask the Minister for Transport the assistance that will be provided to the Harbour Commissioners to grant a licence to dredge the dock and to dispose of the material dredged from the harbour in view of the fact the build up of sand and sediment over ten years in Arklow Harbour is a contributory factor in the near total reduction of port traffic and the problems with flooding in the town. The issue of a dredging licence is a matter for the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food under the Foreshore Acts. I have, however, made direct representations to the Minister for Agriculture on behalf of Arklow Harbour Commissioners.
